the inventiveness of Chinese farmers Part Two

One of our first posts on Virtual China, and still one of the most popular, was on the homemade inventions of various farmers across China: boats, cars, subs, and so on.  There are also homemade airplanes out there.  Now it’s an amphibious vehicle, being reported via "China’s BoingBoing," Postshow.

Boat

On Sept. 25, 75-year old boatsman Hu Zeshen piloted the dual-use amphibious vehicle that he invented.

Car

Mr. Hu lives in Loudi city, Hunan Province, in southern China, and has spent his life working on ships plying China’s rivers and canals. He calls his invention "the Happy Boat." The vehicle has a 5 horsepower diesel engine and a 1 horsepower electric engine.  He and his wife plan to take the vehicle on holiday during China’s National Day vacation, to explore scenic waterways in other parts of his province.  Mr. Hu will apply for a patent for his vehicle, too.

it is excellent exampel fo what HOney bee network is tryng to promote, innovations by comon peole with uncommmon applications and very clost. It doesnot matter what is patented, so long as it is new application in china, is low cost, solves lcoal problems and has an inspirational value. I can tell youw ith my experience of 30 years in learning from creative farmers that such innovatiosn desrve all the cnouragement because such farmers can help other buidding inventors an dinnovators. Pl convey my warmest greetings to HU. we will be very happy to invite him to India an dmeet Saidullah and chaurasia who have also develoepd amphibious cycles and rickshow and walking shoes. These are far cheaper that than the versions develoep din usa much later than indian innovators. Now we havenot given ipr support to such innovators, and thsu they lag behind.

jeep it up HU, my best wishes

Sorry, But these are NOT inventions. These are MODS. Modifications of already patented ideas. These are NOT innovations and the people are NOT innovators. They farmers are MODers. The MODs are neat, but let’s not distort the truth here.
